After the press release and public outcry about the recent heartsticking incident at MDAS, investigative reporter Carmel Cafiero of WSVN news decided to cover the case. The results of her investigation aired last night. Be warned, the news clip below is extremely graphic and shows, in detail, the actions of the accused euthanasia tech.
My favorite line from Dr. Sara Pizano, MDAS Director, regarding why she has since REMOVED the cameras from the euthanasia room: “I’m not willing to give the public or the media any ammunition to really create any more negative impressions about this shelter.”
In other words: I’m not willing to let the public or the media see what really goes on here.
By making that statement, it’s obvious she’s not concerned about what’s actually happening behind closed doors – she just wants to make sure the media and the public don’t see it.
This is a public facility – our hard-earned tax dollars pay Dr. Pizano’s hefty salary and the shelter’s operating expenses, and we have an absolute RIGHT to know about everything that goes on there. And, if we don’t approve, we have a RIGHT to install new leadership and change the way the shelter operates.
